Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
For the resident evil dungeon I'm guessing you want the alttp zombies to be more faithful to the RE game.
This is what I think you want to look like. The generic zombie guy.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Just my personal opinion, (besides making the mummy a zombie) I like the idea of Blinky (I think that was his/her name...) replacing the water bug.
I really like the idea of the ghost and heart for the blob thing. Not only is it cute but it's also clever since you have to attack the smaller part (in this case it would be the heart) to kill the big part. It makes perfect sense that way. Good call, Erock.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Here's a thought.
Because of the way the small Zora reacts when hit it would be funny if it were changed to something that mimiced the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Like, you hit it, it deforms and then goes back into it's normal shape. I forget, did the Zora's get back up if you didn't hit them again?

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
For the penguins, why not go with a traditional penguin look and then why not also make them evil. Like this one with an axe!

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Now for the big skeleton guy who crumbles when you hit him. I sat down and asked myself "what kind of monster could crumble and then get back up again besides a skeleton?" and then I thought "omg, a rock monster."
So I think a rock monster would be a good idea and also make him have a sword instead of that pole in the original.

And for the Vivi Final Fantasy dudes. I had this idea to turn them into vampires. Like the Count Darc.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Good ideas in there... feel free to either ask your spriters to do them or SGP if you feel like it! If SGP you want to try adding one of them in particular, I'll provide you their tilesets. You can use any palette you want, I can modify them all easily!

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Too bad that you have to renounce on the silver harp, like "I found a joint, one smoke, and my vision gets pimped to be able to see invisible tiles" or something funnier alike... but since you do not use invisible tiles, it's obsolete, of course.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Oh yeah... Seph. When making some of these enemy graphics, do I have to adhere to the tile arrangements that are seen inside the bin file or can I just draw them as they arranged above? That's kind of an important detail.
Look at it this way.
At one point, no one knew what either term meant so for a long time they were being used in situations where no one knew what they referred to. That didn't negate their usefulness and worrying about some people not immediately knowing what it means is a waste of time. People watch movies and shows all the time where they have no idea what some of the terms mean, especially in scifi and legal dramas and in those cases you don't have time to sit there and analyze things. You just have to assume that you will learn the meaning of it as you go along. It will be okay.
Erockbrox wrote:All I'm saying is that almost everyone knows what a harp is, but not everyone knows what a Dank Spliff is.
Even I, who knows lots of slang words for drugs didn't know what it was.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
monologue 60:
Bowser: "ROOOOOOAR!"
[Name]: Oh, hi.
Bowser: Hey, what are you staring at? Haven't you ever seen a reptile ready to conquer the world?
[Name]: Oh, really, that's interesting...
Bowser: I'll get you for this, Mario!
[Name]: Wait. Who the %$£@ is Mario??!
Bowser: WHAT!? Where's Mario? I bet this is all HIS fault!
I'll add:
Narrator: Last time we saw him, his head was on a spike! Alzheimer much Bowser?
Bowser: Arghhh. Oh Yes Sorry! Didn't remember that!
[Name]: So now I have to fight an evil reptile bent on world domination that has Alzheimer syndrome? Man give me a break!
Bowser: I'll add your head to my trophies room [Name]!
[Name]: Perhaps...but what's the point if you don't remember cutting it off?!
Narrator: Enough with you guys! Fight already!
Bowser & [Name]: ...Ok boss man!
^^problem was I made his dialogue before adding mario's head on a spike, so the added monologue will obviously fix that!
Will fix that along fixing the monologue error Conn found and will need to move monologue around since Euclid move those at the end of the rom

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Okay Seph I've talked with the pixel artist guy again and we are going to do some more artwork.
What I need from you is which monster you want to do next and the color limitations and the tile set so I know the exact sizes of the tiles.

Thank you for calling Santa's workshop. Santa can't come to the phone right now, and the elves are out back barbecuing Blitzen. After the tone, please leave your Christmas list, and maybe we'll get back to you!

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Just give me all the tile sets for these monsters. I can't just use the pics you provided earlier and I don't know how to edit the graphics in zelda 3 to do it myself.
Also you might want to credit the artist too. Here is what he said.

Hey, the evil teddy bears look nice in the game! I think it would be great to do some more pixel art for you.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
*lol, I think SePH has other problems right now... we had a hard week behind, I was hacking 3 days non-stop; our discussion in for you not visible admin forum was... extensive
Give SePH some rest. He didn't sleep in 48 hours, I also overextended him with misunderstandings and we are all exhausted. I think he is grateful for your offer, but keep in mind that we want to get to the goal line now. So there will be no big changes anymore.
In the end tile changing does not affect the gameplay, and there is also surely time to optimize them in the time between beta and alpha. Right now, your offer is just bad timing
But in the core it is great and awesome! It surely will improve the game much more!

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
I would assume the sprites are decompressed. Usually SNES games do this for performance reasons so the game doesn't have to decompress every time a new animation frame is loaded.Lord SePH wrote:Learn how to extract graphics and it'll surely help me more then if I do it evertytime you need something.
It will be over soon enough! And yes, erobrocks doing the work himself is a better idea and gives him a better chance of his suggestion being approved.Lord SePH wrote:Managing an hack soon to be released is about the most time consuming and annoying job if I have to do everything and working 10 hours a day at the job.

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
In any case it is highly appreciated that you and your friend pimp up the graphics
It may sounded harsh what seph wrote but keep in mind that we are in the final beta bug fixing stage. There's lot of issues and conversation between seph , Euclid and me in the non-public admin forums. Pre-beta bug fixing is top priority unless you want to wait some further years for release. Then seph has the obligation to manage the pcm:s as well.
Pimping up graphics is a cosmetic issue, seph surely has no time. If you can help yourself is surely the best you can do. Also, you have time until the alpha release

Re: Erock's Final Beta Countdown!
Okay so I tried to find the tile sets in Hyrule Magic and I don't see how or where to get them. The only one I see is Link's graphics.
Then I downloaded Zcompress and tried to get the allgfx.bin so I can use YYCHR and look at them, but when I try to use the program it won't like me type anything into the command prompt without the whole program disappearing.
Any help?

The easiest way to get it to work is to copy a CMD.exe into the same folder (you can find one in the Windows, System folder) and click on that instead.
I would help you figure out the Hyrule Magic part but right now I'm currently in one of those periods where I have moved my Zelda related files off of my computer in order to give myself a much needed break from it all.

I'll mention this just in case...
If you need the proper palettes for the GFX that you or whoever will be working on you can make a savestate in ZSNES when that enemy is on screen and load that into YY-CHR. Really though, just about any screen other than the title and file select menu should give you colors good enough to work with.

Okay I just sent the sprite guy everything he needs to know including reference pics and explanations and such.
Holy crap this took many hours to do. No wonder you didn't have time.
Just remember that you can always kindly guide me in the right direction when it comes to doing new things and learning new stuffs.
