Dungeon Map Problem Empty Dungeon Map Problem

I'm planning to release an update to the Master Quest hack, and I'm looking to get a particularly nasty issue resolved.  I added a warp to the Ice Palace that takes you from B4 (room 142) to B1 (room 46) in order to reduce backtracking.  However, once you warp to the room that I set it to, you're still on B4 according to the map, but you're actually on B1.  If you head back to B4, you will be on B7 according to the map.

If you continue that cycle, this happens:

Does anyone know what might be causing this, and can it be fixed in HM?

The answer to your question is simple, the solution is not. Original game can not warp between floors. All the warps are programed to take you anywhere wihtin the same floor. Warping between floors, like from B4 to B1, will mess the floor counter and thus the dungeon map.

That's why I decided to turn off the floor counter in my hack and removed the dungeon maps as well (since players can also solve dungeons with no maps, it is just a bit more difficult than with the map). So in my case I can have any transition I want, even a paradox one. Or I can have 2 separate floors in one HM room, etc.

Solving your problem is not easy. Original authors made such a transition in Alttp, where you warp from the most lower floor to the almost most upper floor in Hera's dungeon (level 3 of the light world) but ASM was used for that and the most lower floor did not have a floor counter at all.

So it might work with ASM, to be able to isolate this one transit and also address the floor counter to jump 3 times up. Personally I can not recommend such a transition though, since the original game will by default allow only transitions without floor counter changes, or +1 (staircase) or -1 (staircase/pit). In your case it is +3.

I had initially suspected that might be the problem.  I just wasn't certain because I did the same thing in Tower of Hera and Turtle Rock, and both warps worked without any problems.  Though the warp in Turtle Rock only takes you from B2 to F1, the warp in Tower of Hera takes you from B1 to F4.  Either way, I guess it's not an easy fix.  Thanks for the input.
