No it won't, but I made a compatible version. Please redownload:
http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/sgg_msu.zip

Inside you will find a new
sgg_restoration_msu_no-header.ips
This is the restoration from romhacking merged with the msu1 patch and should work. Apply ~only this patch on non-headered rom and Do not apply the original patch from romhacking or any other msu patch from the patch zip.

SNES9X 1.55 seems to have audio crackling issues with SGNG, unfortunately. Still keeping the patched rom and pcms in case it gets fixed someday!

Hey kurrono and Conn,
thanks for taking the time to msu-onify one of my fav games.

Finding the right soundtrack is indeed not easy for this one so I had to dig deep to find a very consistent set of tracks.
(Please mind there's always a level-theme plus boss-theme within one file. Also I know, mp3's are not optimum, but this is the best I could find, sorry.)

Too bad there's some stuff missing.. but we'll see, they might pop up in the future.

Keep up the good work, guys!
Thanks again!

I did an overhaul of my dropbox folder..
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1ru73ciib4s58bu/AADF5itn-q_O9X0_A7EoxEFAa?dl=0

Right now, I have only 4 placeholders left,
maybe one day this here may become available in better quality:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd7eNzbmQLc

They have a youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCf5e9hPIxFhcfOjIHHsOyeA
Maybe if more people comment here they might add a SGNG video to their list:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCf5e9hPIxFhcfOjIHHsOyeA/discussion

In the meantime this is the best I could find and prepared pretty much everything for a smooth integration.

Is there a list of what pcm maps to which sound?
It looks like the intro is twice in the set, pcm#7 and pcm#21 and I find it difficult to identify some sounds in the current pcm set.

If I may ask a favor - I'd love it if you'd add the capcom logo sound, the sound that plays when you select something off the main menu and the Arthur dying sound as well if possible.

Thanks a ton!

Arthur dying..is not in the selection of the list music in the american version..have you tried the code. With L and R ans start on,exit. In options menu..well it doesnt play it..is mute..after 16.. it dont play nothing till 00 again..thats why we couldnt find it on the code.

I see, thanks for explaining. Too bad because I added a dying-sound for Arthur from Marvel vs Capcom where he screams in addition to the regular sound and I love it Razz (Conn)

I can ask RedScorpion or ikari_01 - maybe one of them can help...

In the japanese Rom there are 2 options in the hidden menu:
Music and Sound.

The following values are from the Sound Menu:
2D Got new Armor
2E Armor Upgrade
2F Armor Lost
30 Got new Weapon
31 Arthur Dying
36 Pause Game
5A Skeleton
5D Thunder (Intro)
61 Extra Life
62 Capcom Logo
63 Select Fanfare

Note:
The music tracks are also available within the "sound" menu but have different values than the ones from the "music" menu!

There're some msu1-patch-related things I noticed when I played around with it..
No criticism, I'm just testing.

  • The music doesn't pause when I hit start in the middle of gameplay.
  • The continue music is continually playing when I select "End Game".
  • Music continues to play when I die.

Is it even possible to play a pcm while another one is already running?
If yes, I'd love to add some voices to Arthur, just like a "ha haa" when he gets a new weapon.

Well... yeah Smile  Perfection would be a good starting point.
Capcom Generations 2 for Saturn had a Sound-Menu with 3 arranged tracks, not a complete soundtrack. There even was a Reggae/Dub-Version of the Haunted Graveyard Theme - spooky Embarassed

I have no exp in snes romhacking but I know the basics
(my first hack was a complete german translation of MonsterWorld IV)

If you two awesome fellas would like to kill some time with me, I'd throw some ideas at you...

  • hijack more sounds for pcm output: capcom logo, dying sound, thunder from intro, pause-jingle, skeleton sound after dying
  • forcing pcm to behave like normal bgm with all the starts, stops and loops - also on pause, scene change etc.
  • I've read that it's not possible to stream more than 1 pcm at a time. To utilize Arthur's cool voice-samples they would need to go into the remaining space in the rom and played/referenced when needed, non-msu1-style.
  • I love SCD's restoration-hack but it makes the intro-characters (villagers running around, arthur and princess) glitchy. Dunno why or how, but let's get rid of these imperfections.

Yeah, it's not really my anticipated life task to hack every shitty snes games to support msu1 Wink

Anyways (@ArcadeTV), if you redownload the hack from the first post, all those 3 issues should be gone. Somehow I already coded it that the music pauses on pressing start, and the stuff when dying and continue, but the hook to the code was deleted somehow.
See whether it is fixed now Very Happy

Well, 3 actually: your drs, red's soe and Pevkoss' contra3. Then ds is working on actraiser I've heard.

You have 4 soundchannels on snes, 2140-2143, so that you can have overlapping sounds, like bg music, your produced sfx and enemies' sfx... but only one channel to substitute msu. Means, either you stop msu music each time you want to listen to a msu sfx, or you leave spc music and substitute the sfx only. Both is crap, but as long byuu doesn't open more channels, it's not possible due to this technical limitation. But replacing sfx is of little gain only in my opinion, not worth the effort
