Auto-collapsing links Empty Auto-collapsing links

I know there's a way to make phpbb auto-collapse the visible length of posted links (the actual target remains unchanged, but the displayed text gets collapsed). This doesn't seem to be enabled, and it's causing weird visual glitches.  In some instances it completely breaks thread previews, like in huge MSU-1 database list, other times it just screws up the page formatting.

On mobile, eh? Looks fine on my end (on both Samsung's default web browser and Mozilla Firefox). Seems to affect Google Chrome through. Which browser were you using? I have tried looking that up in the admins panel, to no avail. I'm not sure what I should be looking for in this case. Any ideas?

On desktop Chrome, it did something completely different, where the preview of the FF3 thread from the thread list was completely blank and didn't show the YouTube video (Conn can attest to this). I fixed the FF3 thread by using bit.ly to shorten the long links. Somebody else changed it back, not sure who, but just to be clear, bit.ly is not an ad injector like adf.ly, it's just a url shortener. If there is some other reason why bit.ly links aren't allowed, I'm open to suggestions on alternative solutions.

I don't think I touched your link, so feel free to change it back Sad

Dunno what went wrong.

Ok, I don't know who did it, but there was a "Reason for edit" note specifying that it was to remove the URL shortener. I know that, for instance, mediafire links aren't allowed here because of the way that the board transforms them into adf.ly links, so I just wanted to clear up the fact that bit.ly doesn't do the same thing and check that I wasn't breaking any similar rules. If everybody is ok with me using bit.ly, I'll just leave it at that. Too bad the auto-collapsing option isn't available, but oh well, this works.

So, for future reference, if anybody else runs into the same issue that I did, specifically with the MSU-1 Hacks Database board and previews not showing up in the list view, shorten your links, that seems to be the issue.

From the moderation actions panel I can see its either Conn or Trovsky who edited that out. Both edited something in that FF3 post but can't tell what was changed since I don't see the changes, only the traces of the edits remains/are viewable.

You could try pm'ing them directly in this case :-)

Nah, that's not the reason. Originally I only had a shortened link to the .ips, and that one is fine. I fixed the issue with bit.ly flagging it by pointing bit.ly at the bitbucket download page instead of the direct hotlink to the file, that seems to be working fine.

Alright sounds good then. Hopefully nobody ever touches those ever again in this case!
