MegaSD Game Database Manager

This tool will scan your SD card and add the game genre, year of release and the title screen image to your MegaSD UI.
A database XML file and screenshot images (link below) will also be needed to add this information. Extract the files to the root folder that contains the GameDbManagerMD executable. You will always find the latest database files in the GitHub link below.

Re: MegaSD Game Database Manager
I used the tool along with these images and it seemed to work, but then it didn't. It seems like maybe a detailed step-by-step set of instructions would be helpful.
Also, why are the screenshots title screens? I guess the resolution means that gameplay shots or box fronts would be completely unusable?

Re: MegaSD Game Database Manager
Seemed to work, as in it scanned your SD card but nothing was added to your MegaSD?
If that's the case then one possibility is that the database is strictly linked to CRC32 values of ROM's from the No-Intro set and the CD images from the Redump set. The tool probably couldn't find anything that matched those values.
The reason that the images are the title screens is simply because that's what the person who compiled the images chose to do. I suppose it makes sense seeing as it's a TV screen, and because of what you alluded to with the box art . They'd probably look a bit indistinguishable given the low resolution of the display, but this is part of the reason why Terraonion made the tool open source so people can add whatever they wish.

Re: MegaSD Game Database Manager
I got it to work. I don't remember what happened the first time. It seemed like it was working.
All I had to do was click "scan roms" and select the sd directory.
Several games, such as hacks, didn't get info or screenshots because they didn't match the names in the database. Do I need to go into the database and rename the games in there?
The database entries look like this (some characters removed because they were hiding text):
Game>
ID>105 /ID>
Name>Alien Soldier (md) /Name>
Year>1995 /Year>
Genre>2 /Genre>
Screenshot>output\\Sega - Mega Drive - Genesis\\Named_Titles\\Alien Soldier (Europe).png /Screenshot>
/Game>
The patched version of Alien Soldier has the name: Alien Soldier NTSC+Region-Free+60Hz Audio (Hack).smd
How would I modify the database to include this hack?

I suppose opening it with a text editor, copying an existing entry, editing the details to match the ROM, and giving it its own unique ID and information should do the trick.
