So... last night, I reached the point in my PW v1.2 playthrough that I could finally take on the tower (albeit quite early), so I decided to do both climbs back to back in a single streaming segment.  Went pretty well, only one unintentional fall, and no deaths.  Only problem was, after an hour and a half of streaming, I went to go play it back, only to find that the game audio was somehow muted in the stream.  No game audio.  Only my headset.

FUUUUUUUuuuuu...

So, anyway, tonight I went ahead and did it again.  I've done the entire thing twice now in the last 24 hours.  I am so.  fscking.  done.  with that dungeon.  Good riddance.

^ just FYI in the Conker hack we plan on doing 10 climbs of the Parallel Tower. Muhahahahah

I feel your pain qwertymodo! That must have been madness. I never finished a legit run of Parallel Worlds without cheat and don't even remember having finished the Parallel Tower itself.

My current playthrough is 100% legit, no cheats or save states (other than a couple of intentional "hey, I need to test this" saves). So far I've only died twice, and both were during the segment when I was babysitting (and would have otherwise been completely avoidable) Razz

4 climbs in 24 hours, no cheats, no save states, no deaths. With the green armor. I'd like to think I've succeeded in taming the difficulty curve (though it's still plenty difficult and downright aggravating, especially if you don't already know exactly where to go and end up having to wander around).

4 climbs in 24 hours, no cheats, no save states, no deaths.
If it makes you feel better, I also did 4 climbs back in the day (dark world normal, dark word kokiri, light world optional hard puzzle, light world normal) and I felt similar.

PS
It gets better even better, you need to do the same in the second quest with far less power than in the first quest.

Well, at least with the change I made to the top floor, allowing you to backtrack to the Kokiri Emerald, you only have to do 2.5ish climbs (if you get the flute before the optional hard puzzle, then climb back down to get to it). As far as doing it with far less power in the second quest, I'm pretty sure it's possible to have all of the same gear I had for the second quest. Well, except for the hookshot, of course. But that only means that you can't climb back down to the optional hard puzzle and have to do that climb from the bottom up.

The best part I like about the tower is when there are those orange warp tiles which fake you out and lead you back to the start.

I must say that I had a blast having to do trial by error to find the right one have having to redo lost progress.

You know, I just realized that none of the Moldorms respawned on either of the playthroughs. I think my fix for the Impa's Ways crystal glitch may have broken the "Fight Boss Again" header tag for Moldorms. Great.

I've never completed the climb myself either. I wish Seph could have made the dungeons, he made a great Overworld (no offense to Euclid, but I'm not a hardcore player).

Luckily for you I'm the supervisor of my new hack with most dungeons and overworlds and lots of gfx (lotsa lotsa more than PW) all edited by my care. With that said, Euclid still had a major asm role together with Conn. Puzzledude and Erock provided good dungeons puzzles too. The hardest ones either being realy well hidden or gone totally to make space for easier puzzles. And the list goes on... music artists, spriters, other asm dudes, experts in their domain all helped making this one hell of an experience...and best of all the thing that PW lacked the most...beta testing phases! Hopefully I did my job right and everyone (lol) ~mostly everyone will be happy and I can retire knowing I made the world a better place lol Razz

Speaking of beta testing, once I've completed my own playthrough of PW 1.2, it would be nice to get some other people to take a crack at it. Anybody interested? I've really tried my best to tackle most, if not almost all of the biggest issues people have had through the years (aside from dungeon design, I made a clear point of trying NOT to make changes there, if you want that you can play remodel, so yes there's still backtracking and at least 2 tower climbs, but it's possible to 100% with only 2). I'd really like to have a polished release, so the more people that get their hands on it, the better.
