Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
These are really nice choices, excellent work!...
If you have some time I have many projects run, that do not have a pcm set yet (DKC3, IoG, DC)... but DC is special, since I promised Alex to release the patch first when he's done with the pcm set, but real life unfortunately prevents him from finishing it. I do not even know whether he released a theme map list...

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
I am currently finishing "a big one" since I only recently discovered how to work with VGMTrans properly to some rather lovely results. As such and due to my excessive projects I can't promise anything but will do my best to release fresh stuff over 2018.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
For those unaware I freelance at Nintendo Life for the past three years and as a Retro contributor I have been posting about MSU1 projects as they happen. Let us just say January 2018 was a rather big month for MSU1 audio projects. Congratulations to the whole lot all of you.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
As always, Shiryu, you do excellent work. As for the MSU1 complaints, it just boils down to a matter of opinion. All of us at Zeldix do what we do for different reasons.
My reason? I do it because it's possible and fun. No different as to why people get Doom to run on a HP printer tiny LCD screen or run Windows 98 on an Apple Watch. It's just because, why not?
It becomes a problem when opinions are worded in such a spiteful way that it attempts to indoctrinate people into thinking that MSU1 is a waste of time.
In the end, that is not going to stop any rom hacker out there from doing what makes them happy. Usually those that complain are lacking in something and want to give others crap. My advice, go and find something that makes you happy and do it. Don't waste your energy complaining, go be happy.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
It is a shame because this was not what the Internet was supposed to be all about. It was supposed to bring people together to share common interests but most of the times it just looks like people are happier to simply throw away every other opinion other than their own. I have learned to let that go a long time ago and just keep going on my patch. Covering and remixing retro game music is my way to give back and honor the people who made a tons of excellent memories when I was younger and byuu's MSU1 was just another incredible way for me to continue to do so. I will keep doing what I do as long as humanly possible and let History and future generations be the judge of our work.

Shiryu, do you use FLStudio or Ardour in your remixing? What do you use for remixing?
Also, I noticed your Darius Twin YouTube demo has the Intro muted. Did you do the video with the older patch? Just wondering if the patch has pending issues.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
I did the video with the most recent patch on snes9x 1.55! I assumed that was normal behaviour!? Wonder what went wrong there... z_z;
I have been an absolute FL Studio junkie even when the program was called Fruity Loops. I have tons of free VST instruments and effects and I always pick up the latest issue of Computer Music Magazine. I mostly never enve used any other DAWs besides the newbie friendly MAGIX Music Maker, but Ardour is a phenomenal open source solution, something I would have love to have when I was younger and a poor student. I have been releasing stuff as a hobby since 1990 (on the almighty Commodore Amiga!), it my favourite thing in the world with video games a close second.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
Yeah, I too like doing this (still learning). Just know the basic stuff, now. Tried FLStudio but it is very intimidating to even invest $200USD+ now. I don't like the demo limitation.
Ardour, its free, so I will work with this DAW until I get comfortable enough to attempt FLStudio again. How do you rip a MIDI file and have the DAW use the same instruments when importing?

I tried it on my end, the intro works. By any chance, are you missing the dt-msu1-177.pcm file in your folder? This is the intro theme. If so, maybe, I forgot to add it to the PCM set. I have been doing too many things at once, and lately, been making stupid mistakes.

Yep, that is what it was. I forgot to add the PCM (its not in the list). It should be live by the time you read this post. It is labeled as v1.1 in the file.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
Just so you guys know why I am stopping my Nintendo Life coverage of future MSU1 ports: This lovely gent. More free time to work on sound packs instead of writing then.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
There is always someone that is going to hate. The sad part, they project their anger on something they can also so do but not acting on it. They are stuck in the past and cannot see what other cool things are possible.
That gent’s comment made it pretty clear about his hatred toward the advertisement stuff. He probably cannot get success with YouTube, so you probably got the flak for it.
There was no reason to bring that up at all. All that had to be said was a simple “less MSU coverage” please and let it go.
But that aside, I’m glad you are on board and making this community stronger with your contributions. Welcome aboard and I wish you well in this journey.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
I can also only second what's being said. If you want to read some more shit, get into the comments here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxPd7Kla_rs
You know it's being 4 years of development on Conker, lots of sweat. I think the author of that video gets his famousity through shitstorming other people's work, and his followers hate their lifes so much that they desperately love to jump on that train
But there are also people who really love what we do, and we give the dead-thought snes a new life spirit... are there any other articles you possibly could write about snes news?
MSU-1 surely polarizes the community just as a squirrel in a zelda game does.
Alike for Conker, here's my message to all who do not like it. Nobody forces them to play the games in msu1-mode! And if they do not like to read msu1 articles, you are the last person who force them to read them either!
But think about the 1000s other people who love your articles and playing retro games with enhanced music and thus want to read them!
Please don't give up, just get ignorant towards morons. Your contributions in form of articles, videos, and now even pcm sets really made us much stronger by reaching more people we could think of, and you are really indespensible in the meanwhile for us!

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
Thanks Conn. Don't worry, all these decades around the Internet have pretty much made me "grief proof", I simply can not afford to care about what every nay sayer out there does or writes in the safe anonymity of their comfy PC chairs because to put it clearly: I have way too many jobs and projects to even think about them.
But I won't lie, I miss the simpler days of Commodore Amiga BBS, before this culture of putting down everything that anyone else does just simply because you can just a few clicks a apart. This was not why I helped and continue to help bring contents to the ever growing Internet and wish people would focus more on leaving a better Human Society for all instead of just trying to rain on everyone else's parade.

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
I think the msu rush is more or less over anyways. I have only 2 projects on the run, which is Demon's Crest (wait for pcm:s) and the second pcm set for Illusion of Gaia.
No further projects are planned from my side, and I think also Pev is taking a big break now

Re: Shiryu Music - MSU-1 Sound Packs
Today I release my 10th MSU-1 sound pack so I had to make sure it was extra special. When I was making my 2017 "Metroid Legacy: The Samus Aran Chonciles" tribute album, it was always a stretch goal to turn disc 3 into a MSU-1 sound pack and today I am proud to present to you the results of that vision.
If you ever wanted to replay Super Metroid to the sounds of Vangelis iconic CS-80 sounds, your time is now.
