Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Ok, try this:
Again apply on a fresh rom:
http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/sb_msu1_patch.zip
you can use a srm, but no freeze savestate from a previous version, the rom needs to boot so the new code takes effect. Once you used a srm, you can again make freeze savestates.
What I did: I hardcore muted the apu to solve your problems. If you play the game without msu on the music is nevertheless muted.
I hope this works. The cut-off before playing the pcm should be more or less gone, too, but for sd2snes users you still should have some milliseconds mute at the start of each track...

This is amazing! Thanks to everyone working on this.
I just got my Super NT and a SD2SNES a few weeks back. I am about the start a complete play through of Soul Blazer. Let me know if you want me to run through the entire game to see if everything is as expected.

It works. Consider this patch done on the programming side. Thanks brother.

That'd be great. I still need to finish the PCMs for it, actually. Or use Shiryu's tracks if he's cool with that.

He said on a Youtube video that he was OK with it, I think.
Shoot me a PM when you're ready for me to test it.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Glad to hear it now seems to work flawlessly
It'd be indeed a good idea if the new patch with the hardcore mute is tested to exclude side-effects (strange or missing sfx, or such). But I'm not sure if I can do anything more. "v1" was muted with the nmi countdown, but this is for this game not glitch-free applicable as your last video proved, walter, so this hardcore mute is sort of our last chance
Muting the spc leaving the sfx intact is usually the most difficult thing when it comes to msu hacking and Enix games are the worst

I tested and tested, didn't see a single issue. Shiryu gave me his blessing to use his tracks on his channel, so I did a combination of his and mine (I had several already made and he was missing a couple of tracks. ). I'll post the patch and pcms on the OP. I believe this is as good as done.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Nice
Please post it in the database (RPG) yourself, then you can always edit it if anything changes yourself:
https://www.zeldix.net/f48-rpg
in the standard we use: video, patch, pcm.
You can use my patch link:
http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/stuff/Con/sb_msu1_patch.zip
it's permanent.
So I add you also to the group pcm artist?

Will do.
Artist seems a little big for me. I just like making arrangements and stuff, but I almost never do. This is an exception for me.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Alright, with the next pcm set you send I make you pcm artist, for now you have the special rank "music artist" you see it between your avatar and post numbers after refreshing the page.

Well, thank you for that.
Btw, the patch also works well with the re-translation, just thought I'd add that tidbit.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
I've done the first two stages. Only issue is when you save, then elect not to continue, the game doesn't go back to the title screen. It sort of hangs on the save screen. No big deal.

That's just how the game works. It acts like that on a cartridge too.

Really? So you have to reset yourself?
Bizarre.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Same happens in Illusion of Gaia, this first was changed in the third part of this "trilogy", Terranigma.
I think the relaxing music can be regarded as sort of "calming down" after an exhaustive play

Pretty much. You were just expected to turn off the Snes at that point.
The music that plays does calm me down, so I guess it works.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
I finished the game today.
I found one bug.
As soon as you defeat Demon Bird on the airship there is a loud buzzing noise for about 45 seconds. After that the game played fine until I beat it.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
This is sd2snes right and not emu, right? The buzz usually means that a track was forgotten here. Is next to the buzz a pcm played?
make a breakpoint here:
$20/8056 8D 04 20 STA $2004 [$01:2004] A:80B1
(b1 is the track played in slot, but if you can figure out which track is supposed to play at demon bird, walter can add it).
Or give me a savestate where I can reach that point well.

Yes SD2SNES. PCM during battle, buzz, new PCM.

I'm using a Super NT. Defeat him, loud, horrible buzzing until next track loads.

Re: Soul Blazer MSU1
Yes, but what is the emulator behaviour. If there is mute, a track is missing, if there is as well buzz, there's a code bug.
If you can provide a savestate, would be awesome

What is there then? Buzz, pcm...? I need a savestate somehow.

Just buzzing. SD2SNES doesn't have save states unfortunately.

Ehm, I was asking about emulator behaviour, there you wrote
So again...: what happens on emulator, here I'd need a savestate.
If you do not know, no problem, I wait for walter then to come back at this.
I asked then what happens on emulator (buzz as well, pcm played) then you saidNo mute.
