you need to use an emulator that has a debugger to do my method. conn's method you'll need a hex editor

i decided i might use this to write up another example of converting a patch, but Soul Blazer doesn't have an official spanish rom, and i can't seem to make the beta version of the spanish translation patch work at all...

are you sure you're not thinking of Illusion of Time?

Yes, yes, I'm sure, both Illusion of Time and Terranigma work with roms in Spanish, I have a rom patched to Spanish for Soul Blazer, what I don't know is if it's American, I think so, if you need me to find something for you Tell me, I will help you in any way I can, and once again thank you very much.

all the spanish language patches i've seen use the north american rom as the base. the US patch would then be the best starting point at least.

Excuse my ignorance, you mean to make the patch for the msu, right? If so, once done, would you just have to put the Spanish patch on it afterwards?

it depends. where did you get your version of the translation patch? anyways, you can put both the patches through this tool here to see if they write to the same areas of rom, which will indicate patch compatibility.

no progress. it wasn't fun to work on so i stopped. no guarantees that i'll pick it up again either. too many things seem to have been moved around, it's almost like starting from scratch.

Hello, after a long time I tried again some MSU play and play my favourite game Soul Blazer (Germany) with MSU Emulator snes9x-1.60-win32-x64.

Now after I arrived in Stage 5 and get the Metal Sword I went back to Stage 1 and defeat the last Metal enemies. Then I went to the Overworld from Stage 1 and the music was complete gone.

Then I tried the others World 2 was fine. 3 and 4 also no music anymore when you leave the Savepoint to the South where the people or mermaids live.

I tried a new game and there is music in the Town from World 1. So it seems something get broken when you reach a special point from the game with the MSU hack?

I also tried the same Save for the normal game without MSU and there is music in World 1 Town.

Jupp, hört sich nach bug an. Gibt nur fast niemanden mehr der das fixed ^^

would be interesting to find out whether this happens in the US version, and if someone can provide savestates (srm, no freeze since some may want to trace on snes9xGeiger or bsnes and freeze states are highly incompatible) and provides best a video how to trigger the bug using the savestate .

RPG are hardest to fix bugs. I made this patch but no idea which stages you are speaking about

Hatte mal ein US MSU Version getestet, da hatte ich das Problem nicht. Hatte irgendwie das Gefühl, daß eventuell die Musik sich irgendwann ändert. Denke so nach dem Boss Kampf und dann bei den Welten auch immer nach dem Boss?
Bin irgendwie auch der Meinung das die Musik bei den Welten die gleiche wäre. Oder jedenfalls am Ende dann jeweils.

Meist hatte ich die Musik nicht so laut das ich die ganze Zeit drauf geachtet hätte. Und man muß ja nach Boss nicht mehr viel machen in den Welten.

Also Welt 1 wo es beginnt, Welt 3 Meerjungfraune und Welt 4 die alten mit den Schnecken. Da scheint nach Boss Kampf jeweils die Musik zu verschwinden, aber nur bei der Deutschen MSU Version.

Wie auch immer, verstehe das nach so langer Zeit es nicht wirklich mehr Interessiert. Wollte es einfach nur melden, falls andere auch das Problem haben oder das es jedenfalls bekannt wird.

Hm, I would probably look into it if I had more information. So far I can tell is that I am the author of the US version while Gizaha did the other languages (europe PAL).
If we knew that the bug only concerns the european versions while not the US versions we would be closer.

Can you post a youtube video or anything how to easily reproduce this bug? Maybe Gizaha or I then take care.

Ok my english is not the best. But here the problem.
I try it again and it happen always when you defeat the Boss from the World.
So Boss 1 defeated and activate the Lair the Music is gone in World 1. I think the other World (3 and 4) are maybe the same. So Boss defeat maybe change the music in the World?

So easy to reproduce, just defeat the 1st Boss. Music gone in World 1 Town (only the friendly Overworld, the Dungeon Music is still working).

Here a Save file, before Boss defeated, Music ok, after Boss Music gone.

Thanks, I hope to find the time to look into it. Could you briefly test whether the bug also appears in the US Version or is related to the Europan Pal versions only?

Last time I also checked the US Version, this was good, no probelms there. I checked from the PAL only the German Version, not sure about the other European ones.

PS: I not tested the US Version from this site, because the Soundfiles are deleted here, but I found a complete MSU Version from the US Version somewhere else with all files, and I think its be the same one. And this worked fine.

Ah ok, I'll refresh the us sound files.
Unfortunately since only the Europe version bugs, I'd rather hand the fix over to gizaha, since he's the author and has a different, I admit, better and more complex way of coding. I might be lost trying to fix that and introduce maybe more bugs.

If it was the us version where I am the author, I'd definitely be a better help
