Castlevania HD :: Comments
Sorry, but wouldn't the tracks be a little low in volume compared to the sounds of the game itself? I got the originals on RHDN (HD,SD and VK) and they are perfectly balanced.

I have got people telling me both ways, too loud and too quiet. I think it is fine, maybe increase volume by a single step but i don't know.

The sound presented in the video is ok, but testing here it is much lower compared to the game's sound effects, then I'll try to regularize the sound level to be more 'balanced'. Do these tracks have looping like the MSU-1?

Yes, the .hires tells it where to loop. If you increase the volume it will still loop. I will double check what i upload but it should be the exact same thing i used for the preview
But the interesting thing is that the .ogg files are all the right volume, tested with foobar 2000 and Audacity, but when they run in the game the volume drops drastically and this is happening practically with all Mesen HD volume hacks on this site, with the hacks I got from RHDN this doesn't happen. I even increased the volume to maximum on one of the tracks with Audacity just to test and even so in the game it remains low, so the problem is not in the set. (Tested on Mesen-X, on Mesen 2.0 even the effects of the game itself remain low.)
With Mesen 2.0 I can't get the high volume from normal games in general on my PC, whereas with the old versions or even Mesen-X this doesn't happen, everything runs normally
One more question, is the volume of the tracks determined by the instructions contained in the patch or in hires.txt?
I'm testing all the games here and for now only Legend of Zelda is ok, I'll post the full results later...

No, I always leave the emulator at maximum volume and I also tested it on other versions of Mesen and it gave the same result, finally some hacks have normalized audio like Metroid, Zelda and Mega Man, after I finish testing everything I'll post it here the result.

I've tested this game and a couple of others from this site against the original games using the Mesen core in Retroarch on the Mac and the audio is fine on them. In fact, Castlevania in particular is very close to the original game's audio. The issue is either with the standalone version or it is something on your computer that's causing the issue.
