Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Thx for this release.
Just for the Info, pcm 15 is missing (when I not wrong) its the sound/voice from the movie intro file. I have just copy it from another pcm release.

Track -15 ($0F) is the short intro 01. It's not used, so no worries

Maybe it's a good thing you'd do, otherwise people that use your set have mute or need to download and copy it from another set...

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Just my two cents, since the video is a separate patch, I think it's best that track 35 should be distributed with the video patch and data ROM, not with music packs.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
In my patch the video is not separated anymore... you'd need to disable it with a hex edit.
But having the video files (msu+track35) and using e.g. your dx patch means no harm (it's simply not used), the only flaw is that there are some MB more to download, which however is negligible imo.
Of course you're right and it is better to supply these files with the patch, however all the pcm files provided on my patch site all already have the video... and I'm just too lazy to remove/add them apart and reupload everything.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Im kinda old school and want to keep it as small as possible. Best solution for me would actually having flacs that convert to pcm upon installation.
That said, Ill upload 35+video seperately, so people who used a patch that support it can get it as well. But I strongly recommend to not autopatch it, unless you can skip the vid.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Your current pcm set already contains the video and the pcm would add 35 MB more... but do as you think it's best

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Just 7Zip your PCM pack if you're concerned about file size when releasing. You should get a similar result when compared to FLAC compression as it weeds out, so to speak, the unused data in the files.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
uhm? my pack doesnt have the video file in it? or do you mean the .msu file? i didnt include it in the 1.01 re-release.
so pcm + 7zip is the same filesize as flac + 7zip?

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Didn't know there was a 1.01 release.
I'll update your link at my alttp patch database as soon you provide a link to the video (my patch must have the video which you now excluded).

I thought it would be similar, but I tested something there and it doesn't appear to be the case. Oh well, never mind. PCM files must have more information in there than I thought.

If its the .msu 201mb file, there you go

Erm... Most lossless FLAC is just as uncompressed as WAV and PCM files, the only way you're getting a much smaller FLAC file is with lossy compression (which FLAC can be, FLAC isn't always lossless). And if you're using lossy compression, you might as well just use MP3s.Relikk wrote:I thought it would be similar, but I tested something there and it doesn't appear to be the case. Now that said, you can compress PCM files via 7-zip or WinRar, and it will result in much smaller file sizes, but you won't get the files as small as if you used a lossy compression.
My own experiments and test have shown that using WinRar to .rar PCM files results in smaller files than using 7-zip to .7z or .zip (or .rar) them.

No. FLAC is always lossless no matter what level of FLAC compression is used (lossless meaning that as long as your source was an original lossless file type that was lossless to begin with).

Dead link... And it looks like it didn't include the encryption key anyways.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
Hey, I just want to say this is my favorite PCM playlist for this game, it is really really good. I actually download all of them and mix and match for different people's soundtracks what I like but I have yours consist of about 75% of my soundtrack for this game. I would highly recommend anyone reading to give this one a try.

Re: Zelda3 - 32nd Anniversary (real) Orchestra Soundpack
I updated:
https://www.zeldix.net/t791-the-legend-of-zelda-a-link-to-the-past
btw: I think yours is one of the sets where the title screen pcm (01) does not fit in the time we have. I tried to elongate the time there via asm but failed. Maybe if you ever release a 1.03 it is possible to short it by a second or so? But this is little in the end.
