If there are other versions, here's the bps format, it can only applied on the CRC CE8333C6 (everything else is rejected).

BTW, if you name the bps file to the name of the cue file (e.g., use the name
OUTPUT.bps
instead of
CastleOfIllusion_MsuMD_ArcadeTV_20200904.bps
the rom name will be suggested accordingly (output.md in this case) Wink

I freed the very first post (shifted all the text in your second message so it doesn't get lost), whenever there's an update you can edit the original post and write a message here that first post is updated with the new patch. People can easily find all updated releavant stuff then in the first post, and you don't have various patch versions and links floating around in the thread Wink

I would expect the Link to the releases tobe on the top bar too, I dunno why it's not there... Maybe I tagged all the releases as pre-release? It's not clear to me why the Link in the top bar is missing.

My deepest respect btw that you went into the MD asm, I had this previously to learn another language for the SGB msu1 support. I wanted to help you with those bugs you previously posted (and fixed in the meanwhile) but I'd not know where to start (which debugger to use and so on). The MD asm looks a bit similar to the snes asm though.

I tried the new patch and it does not work in the Mega SD (black screen even after correcting the checksum) I use the Analogue Mega SG, by the way. I tried Kega to run it on the PC and I also have the black screen I am afraid. Disgust

I have no MegaSD, but did you load BOTH rom AND cue in Fusion? Also is the option present in fusion.ini?

In Fusion, all other games with MD+ load just fine but without the .wav music (it is not ready for CUE, I think). In this one, it is just a black screen so the game does not load. I do not think the issue is with the CUE but likely the heading.

Please use these steps in fusion

1. set option cartBootblabla 1
2. load the rom (blackscreen here is ok)
3. load the cue with "load sega cd"

also make sure biosses for cd are present and set in config!

For this you have to make sure that...

  1. The file INPUT.BIN exists and that it's the JAP Rom padded to 8MBIT.
  2. The srecpatch.exe is in the same folder


Maybe give the bps patch a try?

These conversations are exactly what I wanted to prevent with all experience I already have with maintenance and user interaction, and obviously didn't succeed... Sad

Changelog:

We're very close to a first release candidate. I completed the game on MegaEverdrivePro without major issues, but these are the bugs left to fix:


  • The wrong music is played in the cutscenes where Mickey enters the doors inside the castle after stage 1 till the end.
  • Music in the Rainbow Bridge cutscene needs to be a bit shorter because it's cut off.
  • There are cracks in the audio tracks when there's not at least a tiny bit of silence at the beginning of the track. This needs to be fixed for music in stages 2-3, 3-2, 3-3. Expect an updated soundpack shortly.
  • WAV file for music in the library stage sounds funny due to the frequency not being 44.1KHz.
  • Mizrabel's "NOOOOO!" needs a volume boost because she's barely hearable.
  • Staffroll music would benefit from a slight fade-in.

But that's basically it before I'll start working on a patch for the US and PAL versions.

I now tried it myself and works wonderful (had some initial problems with the CD Bios, but solved it... for other users, I added the link into first post).

How do you debug this stuff?

gens_r57shell_mod_r665 seems to do the trick, though not playing the audio. Fusion plays ok but freaks out sometimes, e.g. track 7 and 13 not playing in the sounttest but works on MegaEDpro. The rest is trial n error.

I just fixed the last remaining bug where a wrong track is played. The rest is done in audio-editing soft :-)

Expect a release candidate pretty soon.
