What was your first Zelda 3 Hack ever?
So what was your first ever Zelda 3 project ever, and while on the topic, how did you get interested in Zelda 3 rom hacking. It does not have to be a released hack.
I got interested in Zelda 3 hacking after playing many Zelda 3 hacks. The main example is PuzzleDude's quest. After playing I felt interested in designing new puzzles and dungeons to such a old game. My first project was a Master Quest/Puzzledude's Quest like hack, as in redesigned dungeons and the same overworld. It never got all too far until I got a Wii U and Hyrule Warriors. All I needed was that game and that game only so Zelda 3 hacking was put on the sidelines but I am slowly gaining interest again. I also messed with the imcompleted Lyra Islands hack but decided that I should make my own hack before I finish or try to complete someone else's incomplete hack.
So what is your story with Zelda 3 Hacking?

Re: What was your first Zelda 3 Hack ever?
Some time last year I decided that I didn't just want to play hacks of NES and SNES games, I wanted to make my own. I spent a few months researching different games that I perhaps might want to hack and around October/November I started my first hacking project. It was to be a hack of Final Fantasy IV to transform the game into a Castlevania RPG, retelling the story of Sonia Belmont (from Castlevania Legends). Most of the time was spent learning how to hack the game and learning the limitations of the original game engine. A considerable amount of time was also spent mapping out the flow of the game, writing dialogue as well as choosing which enemies/bosses/area themes to include. I did a little graphics work and had even started to write my own music for the game. I worked on it for about two months before I finally decided that I was sick of turn-based RPG's with random encounter battles and was no longer interested in working on it (though I still love the idea behind it). The project was dropped and I started looking for a different type of game to work on. Zelda III had more action and was one of my top 3 games from childhood (the other 2 being Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid) so it seemed like the perfect solution.
Pinky's Quest was my first Zelda III project (which I am still working on) but it didn't start out as such. All I knew was that I wanted to do a hack of ALttP with a female character in the lead role. I really had no other ideas for the direction of the game. I spent a month or two bouncing around from idea to idea before things started to fall into place. Now I have my story, a few custom graphics, some overworld designs and one dungeon completed (though I'll probably end up making some MAJOR changes to it before it's all over with).
Not long after starting my Pinky project I began working on a new version of KGP's Bruce Campbell vs Ganon as a side project. Oddly, it became my main focus for about a month or more, then there was a break of about a month where I did very little work on either game. Before resuming operations, I did a few character designs for moegami's Z3 hack.
Right now I'm working on Pinky's Quest again. Work on BCvsG will henceforth be post-poned until I can make up my mind about whether I want to stick with the idea of a full-on remake or just make revisions and bug-fixes to the current release (because it's taking too much time away from MY game). Still got a little work to do for moegami that I should be getting back to pretty soon.
I guess that's my story so far.

Re: What was your first Zelda 3 Hack ever?
I'm pretty sure seeing Parallel Worlds being lets played on youtube got me into the idea of rom hacking. I'm not entirely sure where I even found Hyrule Magic but when I did I like peed myself.
The first "hack" I made was called Meadow of Shadows and it was like this weird dark and purple themed game about another dark world that was leaking into the real one and there would be areas with some darkness and you had to clean it all out. The dungeons were littered with spikes and really bad structural design and it was super obvious what dungeons were being placed. I had a lot of stuff planned for that game that made its way into Oracle of Secrets like the wizard name, Kydrog.
I have a few other rom hack ideas I had until I came to Oracle of Secrets but that was like my first real attempt. Maybe I'll post a patch for that Meadow of Shadows sometime.

Re: What was your first Zelda 3 Hack ever?
My first was an attempt to make link into the one from the nintendo power legend of zelda, the fat, but smart link to the past, I wanted to redo the whole story but it became a quick realization that it would be too hard for me to do so, so I kept it as a sprite hack.

I know this isn't active anymore, but my first hack (never finished cuz HM destroyed it) was a project called the cursed island, I would have an entire new over world, new dungeons, all kinds of other stuff. I got interested after seeing a lot of Zelda3 fan games.
