I doubt the sprites can be inserted without being modified. They are too wide. Also do it yourself.Erockbrox wrote:

I made Wario the "bouncer" because he is bigger. I think its fitting and would be better than just leaving the characters are they originally are.

Erock, I tried to tell you that we are in the final beta pre-release phase. There are still bugs crashing the game, places potentially let you get trapped, etc. We cannot release the beta on its due date without them being fixed.
Please do understand that nobody has time right now to take care of your suggestions, unless you want to play this game months later first!

I am on my next 2 days vacation starting tomorrow, back Thursday. Mobile still active, but no chance doing hacking stuff... but I think all major bugs are gone, as my to-do list looks pretty stroke I guess SePH already does some final testing on Aghanims, monologues, msu and such, so that I know whether further actions are required by me when I'm back

Please note that if you don't have time to do the suggestions then don't. They will be there for later when you do have time. There is no immediate obligation.
As a side note my spriter guy drew up some graphics to replace the mimics. Its a capped skeleton guy, kind of like a master skeleton.
Anyway here is the design.
Let me know if you have any design changes to him before we do the animation frames.
And speaking of frames, the spriters had a question. He asked "what do these tiles do?" The ones circled in red.

left is open mouth when facing downwards (for shooting).
right is open mouth (for shooting) sideways (facing left, mirrored when facing right)
someone correct me if i'm wrong - not the most familiar person with the sprite sheets

That sounds about right. The red ones can shoot at you when you are lined up with them.

Okay here are the mimic replacement graphics tile sets. I was thinking that the black ones would be the ones to shoot the fireballs. What do you think? There are two different colors since mimics come in red and green colors too.

^ Wow, this is looking less and less like a zelda 3 hack and more and more like an original SNES game!
And yeah, I totally forgot that there is a grim reaper guy in the original Conker game. So this graphic seems to fit in well.
I did notice that his mouth is slightly messed up with he shoots. It was hard to describe to the artist guy how the mouth worked so you might have to manually fix it.
Also I have a question, how do you choose the colors for the sprites. What I mean is that the SNES only has around 23,000 colors to pick from and when pixel artists work on stuff usually they don't know about the limitations of the SNES so they usually pick colors that aren't possible. Lunar Magic automatically picks the closest colors that are available, does HM do the same or do you have to find the closest match by hand?
The blue/purple color looks the best, black would have only worked if there was two colors for two versions.

The skeleton's facial design doesn't really involve a mouth or jaw so the easiest way to fix this is probably to make a note of the positioning and then copy paste part of the normal face over the mouth tiles. A mouth animation isn't really necessary since it doesn't have a visible bottom jaw in the non-shooting poses IMO.

I showed the artist the grim reaper video and here is what he said.
So I'm thinking that the artist guy intended the head of the skeleton guy reaper to be 1 pixel higher for the left right side of his head. I'm not saying do it now, but maybe later.

The skeleton looks nice! But when he goes to the left and to the right his head is a pixel to deep I would move it up 1 pixel. Sorry for that.
I don't know exactly how the original blob star monster is animated but I think I can figure it out.
You can see a gif. in the attachment of the ghost. I think that the original monster has 2 frames too.
Let's see if i have enough time for the beta test.

It would be a good idea to make sure that he has an accurate pic of the "blob star monster" the way it is arranged in the bin file. Because of the way it is pieced together it may be very difficult to work with. You wouldn't want him to create something that then has no chance of being used.

I sent him the 3 frames as in game screen shots.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. If I remember correctly, it's sort of pieced together using mirroring effects rather than being full or half frames like many of the other sprites. Redrawing it could be like working with your hands tied.

My fault. For making a video which you then showed to the pixel artist. You're on your own from this point forward. Wait till you get the beta and do the modifications yourself. Send me an ips when you're done. Won't spend a single solitary slovo granting you any more favors. I'm sure all of these suggestions give you a headache I don't blame you.
It's just that I really care about the game. These corrections and suggestions are really just part of the game making process. Since you are a single person you are really doing what a whole team of people would be doing. So you can done a fantastic job in that regard.

Which sprites is your artist going to be working on? I actually haven't got started on any yet. I'm ready to start working on them but I don't want to work on one that's already being taken care of.
Currently hes doing a bunch of them. We will need to talk more about it if you are going to do any of them.
Here is the latest update from the artist.
The jelly fish floating thing has been turned into Amp from Super Mario 64. I will need to ask the artist for the smaller version when Amp gets hit and splits into two different monsters. I also think the yellow color should be just slightly lighter than the current color is.
The cheep cheep is to replace the water bug.
The default green penguins will be replaced with regular penguins.

With sephs allowance, Kerberos should also receive a beta, and I suggest, that before changing monsters to ask for sephs opinion. Maybe he does not want to change everything to Mario and is proud of some monsters he created...

I asked Seph which monsters he wanted to change and that's what I'm doing. I'm very happy with my choices that I've made and I think they fit well.

Also let me know if you think the red heart needs to be bigger. Because the hit box is like 16x16 yet the heart is only 8x8. I can ask the artist to make the heart bigger.
