Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
I looped Savaged Regime's Mega Man X Genesis set, so I'm definitely interested in doing the Genesis versions, but not the guitar version. I'll leave that someone else as I'm generally not a fan of guitar/metal soundtracks for these games.

Sounds good. I have to re-upload X2 because I accidentally uploaded my old boosted/clipping version. You didn't start yet right?
By the way, thanks for your work and for hosting your files.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
I did the first 5 tracks, so no biggie.
They're weird, though. The last couple of loops in each track is like a breakdown with less instruments and then fades without leaving much room to keep the loop going. It's difficult to loop them traditionally. The only way to do it without sounding jarring by bringing back the instruments from an earlier point is to multi-track them, and gradually fade the beginning and the end together to bring everything back.
I'm not familiar with the games soundtracks. Do you want the whole tracks looped as they are as best I can, or can I just loop the main melody and leave out the ending parts I mentioned above?
I don't mind either way, but I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Oh I forgot about that part. Yeah, if you can leave out the end breakdown part then that would be perfect.
I'm uploading X2 again now. The X3 pack is correct though if you want to take a look at it.

Excellent, that'll make it much easier. I'll start and finish X2, at least, when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
I updated the link. Also, there's four tracks that have to be used twice in Mega Man X2. I put the track numbers in parenthesis in the file name. For example, "Boss Intro (USE FOR MSU TRACK 21 AND 22)"

I already did the Krzysztof Słowikowski for X3 about 6 weeks ago, you can go download it right now.

Nice one, JUD6MENT.
Here's X2: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ahue7izQZmouwXWDOaqclx0JdRCm
I didn't play the game, so I just did a blanket normalise (which is always a bad idea) based on the SPC's for the game. It's easy to fine tune them if needs be.
I'll do X3 tomorrow.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
X3: link outdated. New link below.
Based on the mapping of the other two PCM packs, there are two spare tracks, "Dr. Lights Capsules" and "Stage Intro" (I'm not sure why that's spare), which I suspect should be tracks 15 and 25 which are not present in those original packs. There's no ASM present in the patch zip, so I couldn't investigate anything.
Track 10 doesn't appear to match anything from the TheLegendOfRenegade tracks.
There's an alternate track to switch between by renaming, if you prefer a specific version. That's track 32.
Again, same as above there is a blanket normalise on tracks based off the SPC's, no idea if they're the correct volume, but give them a try and let me know.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
Thanks added your set to
https://www.zeldix.net/t1441-mega-man-x3#21214
The source code is here:
https://github.com/mlarouche/MegamanX3-MSU1/blob/master/mmx3_msu1.asm
(but I cannpt tell anything about your problems, never played it and DS uses another coding style than I do. Perhaps he reads it and is able to help you out )

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
Thanks for the link, Conn. That helped.
So after that I'll need to re-upload a new set because of the extra tracks. 15 is definitely the selected stage theme. I presume the other one is 25, but I need to confirm it.
And the PCM's are a bit on the loud side.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
You're right about track 15 and track 10.
Track 25 is missing from the MSU tracklist/readme right? Darkshock's own Youtube video shows that there's no MSU code for the capsule theme. It would have played around 13:05 in his video here: https://youtu.be/W1BOOLyAJds?t=785
Also, if you didn't figure it out, MSU track 24 "Doppler 3" should be the Genesis track titled "Dopper's Fortress 2".
Sorry for the mismatched track titles. I probably should have looked at the readme first, haha.
For consistency, I would definitely reuse Sigma 2nd for track 10 instead of having it be the original SNES track.

It's correct in the PCM set though, right?
Ok, so Sigma 2nd is track 29, so just copy that and rename it to 10. As long as that track 24 is alright I will throw up another link for the new set, and I'll leave 25 in there in case it gets coded in some day.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
Yeah, you had it right.
If you're curious, track 10 is supposed to be this one playing at 1:21:41 in this gameplay video: https://youtu.be/ll_XBjZWnxw?t=4901 It's the last level. Track 29 is part 2 of the final boss fight, but it would fit perfectly as the level theme as well since part 1 of the boss fight has its own theme anyway. Then, the boss comes back to life and after you kill him the level theme plays again when you have to escape. Alternatively, you could make "Sigma 2nd" track 10 like I'm saying, but also make "Sigma 1st" track 28 AND 29 so that the Sigma battle theme 1 plays for both parts of the fight. Either way works fine. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the game or if it matters to you, haha.
Thanks again!

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
Yeah I'm not at all familiar with X2 and X3.
I'll decide what to do with the information and advice you've given tomorrow. I'm away from the computer until then, but hopefully you have what you need for the time being. Any feedback on track volume etc. is welcome.
I noticed as well that some loop values in both hacks are incorrect, so some tracks might cut off abruptly. Those tracks really should be set to loop in the hack if that occurs. I'll look into it.

Re: Genesis Style and Guitar Versions--Mega Man X2 and X3 soundtracks
Thank you for the X2 and X3 additions.
The only thing we could use now is the V2 of 7's Krzysztof Słowikowski work looped.
https://krzysztofslowikowski.bandcamp.com/album/mega-man-7-guitar-playthrough-remastered
Have the source files if you guys need them. I also haven't had time to work on Japanese X1's recoding so that it would have MSU-1 implementation. Very busy lately.
Thank you.
