Zelda A Link to the Past MSU Deluxe.
A revolutionary new experience of playing the old classic game with even more sophisticated CD-quality music with over 100 new tracks.
This pack differs from a regular MSU pack, since until now MSU was basically replacing the old SPC tracks with new tracks, having 35 replacements, such that the rom was SPC compatible, but the new complex ASM in Deluxe allows for additional tracks to be added for specific entrances and areas.
Enjoy this fine release of ALttP with classic tracks from across Zelda universe and also with brand new tracks.
Patch Download, with the forest glitch fix:
Updated ALttP MSU-1 Deluxe code having the forest miniglitch fixed:
(the fix changes only 4 bytes, but this indeed is the debug, since the forest music was falsely scrolling out of forest in mode-2 of the game= collecting pendants, if you exited entrances 2C= forest stomp entrance and 3C= forest minigame entrance)

Instructions and Notes:
1.) Download a pcm set of your choice. Cut and Paste all PCM files from folder 2 to 1 and also from 3 to 1, so that all 114 PCM files are in the primary folder. All file names are already correct.
2.) Now comes the patching. Get the original ALttP US rom with no header, with 1.024 KB.
Get the Tsukuyomi UPS Patcher here:
https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/519/
Under original rom, select ALttP US.smc
Under patch, select ALttP-msu-Deluxe.ups
3.) Rename the smc patched rom to:
ALttP-msu-Deluxe.smc
to match the other file names
4.) Remove the ALttP-msu-Deluxe.ups from your msu directory or rename it, otherwise the msu will not work
5.) That's it. Run the ALttP-msu-Deluxe.smc from the folder, which also contains all the other MSU files, in an emulator with MSU support. Recommended is the snes9x MSU emulator.
6.) Note that you can not play this game with no MSU, since you will hear the false songs.
If you want to play ALttP with no MSU, you need to use the original game, which is a separate rom file.
CRC-32 checksums:
original rom (.smc)= 777AAC2F
patch itself (.ups)= 2144DF1C
correctly patched rom (.smc)= 8469301A
Additional MSU Deluxe forest mini-glitch fix (which you can do in hex):
01044C: F0 19 --> EA EA
010450: F0 15 --> EA EA
This fixes the scrolling of forest music out of forest after exiting entrances 3C (forest minigame), and 2C (forest small cave), but only before pulling the master sword. In other states/events of the game it is fine by default. The false scrolling (if no fix) is otherwise reset automatically once you reach any area which does not have OW music or uppon exiting any other entrance.

Wonderful!!!
Perfect tracks!!!
Thank you so much!!!

Thanks man! I have been working on this since november when Puzzledude told me about it before releasing it himself. Glad you like it

Great work.
Also, I restored that link of mine which was removed accidentally. Also embeded your Youtube video and also added the forest glitch fix UPS patch versions for original ALttP and ALttP Redux version (everything in first post).
I hope you can upload your PCM set to Mediafire as well, since I'm having some problems with downloading from Mega.nz with big files, as we talked.

Good afternoon everyone...
A question: what is the need for this patch now?
(Deluxe Patch:
https://mega.nz/file/vxclzAAQ#HmR6PTWRi0XZsvR3LICQx3_mZxNd744g4HvFnfHB8TM )
As I understand this patch : ( ALttP-msu-Deluxe-(fix).ups (original ALttP)
https://mega.nz/file/bxNRRRTQ#Jd-vi7K3k9o1pV-GFQoYhGppO-rFOfEpao9wlyE6b8s ) is the same, already with bug from the mini forest fault fixed.
If so, better remove it so as not to cause confusion, in the most: thank you very much!!!

I actually was thinking the same thing but i was going to let Puzzledude decide to remove it or not

It is obsolete indeed and I didn't know what to do exactly, so I just updated the post and did not change the existing material.
Updated the Redux in it's separate thread as well:
https://www.zeldix.net/t2403-a-link-to-the-past-redux-with-msu-deluxe

I appreciate all the effort and time in adding these new audio tracks and patches. I'm having a little trouble applying the redux msu patch. my original unpatched rom matches crc 777AAC2F
however , any redux patched rom I try is not accepted by the ALttP-Redux-msu-Deluxe-(fix).ups patcher
It always fails with wrong checksum error. I'm using the recommended UPS patcher and am very familiar with rom patching in general (mostly use to IPS/ BPS patches)
To explain further, I have tried the latest redux 9.3 headerless redux patch from romhacking site, and even 9.2, 9.1, and 8.3.1. , all fail with checksum error.
I don't have a way to go older than 8.3.1. any ideas on how to resolve this? does the redux patch need a new checksum to match up with version 9.3 possibly?
I would love to experience this game with all the new tracks and redux, thanks for your time and hard work on this project.

Your problem is easy to solve. You do not apply the UPS patch (ALttP-Redux-msu-Deluxe-(fix).ups) to the Redux rom, but to the original A Link to the Past rom (US, no header). The version of the Redux was chosen by me and I've chosen the latest one at the time of creating the UPS patch. So you can not choose the version of the Redux.mrbigjonstud wrote:I appreciate all the effort and time in adding these new audio tracks and patches. Also do note, that I had to hack-in the Redux slightly to accomodate to the Deluxe MSU, so you can not play the patched rom with regular music.
All in all this means that for every Redux patch version a slightly different Deluxe would needed to be made. This must not be up to the end user, who would surely produce bugged roms, if I would have released this as IPS meant to be applied to the Redux (and not the original Rom) and just hope it would be compatible with any Redux version.
The Redux version had to be set first, then slightly edited and hacked for Deluxe. Which basically means you can not choose the version of the Redux. This is and must be integrated with Deluxe, so that for instance Redux version 9.1+Deluxe is fixed and can not change and is recorded as one patch. For these reasons you also can not choose your HUD and MENU and GFX, which I've chosen for you. As far as I know the original Redux has regular and 24 item menu options.
So if you would for instance want a standard menu (since I've chosen the 24 item one), you would need to do additional hacking after patching.
One thing you Can do is adopt the MSU tracks. You can use my original Deluxe set or Judgement's one and you can even make your own custom tracks. But where they will play is set in the rom itself. To change this, you need to hack/change the actual rom (which is not what you want to do, since you need to know what you are doing).

thanks for the detailed reply as well as the explanation on how your patch works and what rom to to apply the UPS to.
The redux patch works perfect on the original LTTP rom.

files are missing in the orchestral download.
In the .zip file from puzzledude there are present.

As far as i know, they are not used. I searched everywhere at the time i made this and could not find where they load and i did two 100% runs. This is my track map i made, which does not include all pcm from the original 34 pcm of the regular msu-1 since i did not need to make those when i made this map track.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13BIW3oe5lE9gp4bHBG_C8tbnoJA3djoxu5fAEZwopN0/edit?usp=drivesdk
Edit: i looked through my discord chat i had with puzzledude and i found his track map he sent me. It said for these 4 pcm "metroid song but eventually unused" so it looks like puzzledude changed which tracks load where but the pcm set must of not been updated. I remember this now, i left the 4 out since they technically arent coded in and are not being used.

Interesting. But in Future, some people that use the new zelda3 pc port and convert .pcm to .opaz format, (with python. - .py in the .\other\msu folder) the encoding stops because the missing files. After i put the missing files from puzzledude in the folder, all .opaz from 1 to 114 are been converted and ready to use with the pc port. Thats why the 4 pcm files i needed. My Tip, place some little empty .pcm as a placeholder in it.

Great work Puzzledude.
Would you be so kind to consider sharing the ASM file so I can try to release the patch for the spanish translated rom?.
This way, the spanish speakers will be able to enjoy the fully translated game along with the MSU.
I was able to do it with he standard Link to Past & with Link's awakening DX MSU patches, but the deluxe version has rearranged things and it's no longer possible.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Conn wrote:I think I cannot be of much help if you experience problems, that was too long ago...
Thanks a lot Conn!!!.
It seems to be working perfectly well, but I don't have much time to test it in depth (I have only played until I left the castle with the princess) and I didn't saw any glaring flaw.
For the spanish translation I'm using CUE's one, because it's based on the GBA version and it doesn't alter the base too much.
More details about the translation can be found here: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2190/
As music, I have used @Judg6ment's PCM pack (thanks too!).
I just found that I had to manually create an empty "ALttP-msu-Deluxe.msu" for the music to work, as that file was not bundled within the PCM zip, so I have added it to the patch zip, for less savvy users.
Would you be so kind to put it together with the first post for help other users to find it?.
DISCLAIMER: Greet Conn, Cue & Judg6ment for their respective awesome work.
I just put it all together, which it's not a big thing, so I don't want any credit here.

I added it below patches in OP. Thanks for your work & I hope it's bug-free

Does not work with the german (and I guess also the french) version. More language support is always welcome.

totoro wrote:Does not work with the german (and I guess also the french) version. More language support is always welcome.
Not sure if you are talking about the patch I made, or the source patches from Conn, but the patch I made is tailor-made with both MSU + the spanish translation together, and can't be patched over with other languages.
FYI I had to create one empty "ALttP-msu-Deluxe.msu" file for music to play, because it wasn't included in the PCM set and music will not play without it.
Also, all files, music and rom must have the same common name "ALttP-msu-Deluxe.*"
If it helps you, I just only patched the US untouched rom with the spanish translation (one hand-picked that didn't modify any other tings than text, so no VFW, no intro video, etc...), and then applied Conn's ASM over it.
After that, I generated the BPS file against the unmodified source USA rom, so my patch would have both MSU1 & spanish translation.
Hope it helps.
