IMPORTANT SIDENOTE: "DKC2 MSU-1" and "DKC2 MSU-1 Deluxe" are two different and separate patches. It will not work right to use the original DKC2 MSU-1 Patch with the Deluxe PCM set. You need to match the right patch to the right PCM set.

Donkey Kong Country 2 :: Comments
Re: Donkey Kong Country 2
did anyone figure out the silent rare logo on the sd2snes ive tried multiple roms tried different patches tried different pmc sets and all the music works fine except the rare logo i dont have this issue with any of the other dkc games or any other msu game any possible help would be appreciated
I traced the code and it is the same for logo and other music (code is correct), also I found this fxpak proof that it works:
https://youtu.be/MZSzZjk5uVI?t=131
No idea what could be wrong... either you used the patches from the old folder (which are outdated), or the pcm-17 is missing. Furthermore it might be a misadjustment in sd2snes or firmware... means could be anything

I know the pcm 17 is there I tried to use pcm 17 from multiple pcm packs and also just tried deleting it to see if it would play the original and it’s still silent. I also tried both old and new patches also tried 1.0 and 1.1 with the right roms also did headerless and headed roms. Weird part is the track plays properly in the sound test just not at the rare logo when the game starts. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot the issue to try and fix it but to no avail. I have the sd2snes rev x with the newest firmware. I’ll try and use a older firmware and see if that fixes it. It could be an hardware issue with my flash cart but I figured I would check and and see if anyone knew anything frustrating part is I have a bunch of msu1 games on there and they play all the music and videos just fine it’s just this one issue I’m having. It’s not a huge issue the rest of the music plays fine so I can try and ignore it just gets my ocd going lol. Thanks for the help and the quick response also love your profile icon.
I unfortunately have no fxpak/sd2snes... I hope others chime in and tell whether the bug appears on their system, too. If they confirm it may be reported to ikari, if not it should be anything on your setup/system.
Other than that, on my side there's unfortunately nothing I can do for now

@zer0fester: Could you please let me know what console you are using?
- If it is an original or a clone console?
- If it is an original, is it a NTSC-U, NTSC-J or PAL one, and did you made some hardware modifications on it?

I can confirm that the opening jingle doesn't play on SD2SNES, using the latest beta firmware, at least. I initially thought it might have been a scaler sync issue, but it wasn't. Bypassing the scaler gave the same result.
Thanks relikk.
It's odd since an older firmware apparently played it as seen in the video I posted above.
As said before, the code is the same in all tracks, so this cannot be the reason.
Here's also a record from 7 years ago on sd2snes, proofing it at one time worked:

@alex_tenjo I’ve tried it on my unmodified ntsc-U and my retron 2 hd to the same results. When I get a chance today I’ll start cycling back the firmware and see if I can find a version that it worked on and troubleshoot the issue from there. it does play though the sound test so it knows the file is there and if i delete the file it doesn’t default to the original
Good idea. Above video is from 2015, so maybe you can start and report whether the firmware from back then works. If it does I'd half the difference so next would ve 2019, if it works try 2021, if not 2017 or so..
it must be a hardware issue with my cart not liking playing the track during the intro because I tried all the firmware available and none of them worked. i messed with the msu1 and other chip settings on my cart hoping maybe it was something I missed. I even tried the old patch and the rom that was used in the video. there's been a few revisions of the cart and I probably ended up with one that has issues with this patch
I just wanna say thanks for everyone's help so far this is probably the most helpful forum I've been on in awhile lol. I'm gonna do more tests and see what I can find out
Uh, I thought I had replied but cannot find my answer anymore. Since relikk has this bug, too, i consider it a global problem. It's odd that it doesn't occur in some YouTube videos, so my best guess is that it is a hidden setting, as you tested all firmwares
it might be possible to just put a band-aid on this. it's just the opening song during the rare / nintendo logos? it should be possible to hard code a song start there and not worry too hard about why the problem exists
Since it exists on real hardware only, I'm unsure whether we find a quick solution.
I pm:ed emuandco who made that YouTube video. Maybe he can shed light in this

might be an odd question, but is it dependent upon the version of rom used (rev0,rev1)?
i also tried both versions with both old and new patches. i also tried it with and without the header just to see if i got the wrong rom
I know why, it's because of an interrupt "wai". It doesn't stay in the bit $2000 wait loop.
Need to figure out what to do

Yes, nmi is enabled during the bit $2000 loop, causing the problems I think. I may come up with a solution once I have time
wow that was a fast find. your awesome i look forward to a possible fix. thank you for looking into this
quick & dirty. I can only hex edit since the original author didn't include a source asm.
Let me know if it works and I will update OP then

Nice
For safety please also test the 1.0 version. I'm out now and will update later/tomorrow. Thanks
