The third entry in the X series, and the first time Zero becomes a (psuedo) playable character.  Adding in selectable ride armors, chips that give upgrades an added boost, secret Vile fights, and the ability to use Zero's saber through a special circumstance, just to name some big ones, made this the most ambitious X game for the SNES (also ported to the PS1 and Saturn) but with mixed feelings. Some would consider this right behind the first two titles while others would put it a little further back on the list but its usually within the top five.  And because it's still one of the best X titles it's no surprise the modding community has put in some effort.

Much like X2 there was a relocalization, albeit it was in the beta stage, by Solid One, which was in the same vein as Thirteen 1355, and much like X2 Naldrag comes back again with another Relocalization Addendum.  A couple years later ZeroSigea makes a small patch that fixes a bug/oversight for Tunnel Rhino in which he would not use his drills if the player doesn't lose a life within the stage.  About a year after that kandowontu comes back with another FastROM hack which can readily be seen if/when the player dies.  And it wouldn't be complete without some MSU-1 shining through.
