Chrono Trigger :: Comments

Oh, that's it.
Thanks for the heads up.
Btw, do you have any plans for a video without the BETA watermark ?

Friends, how did you download the video clip and audio file? For me, the links are still unavailable:

FMV file:
https://cloud.home.qwertymodo.com/index.php/s/qWlU1Y8M2d9nRq8
Audio file (already included in Blake Robinson PCM set, needed for Dracula9AntiChapel PCM Set only):

customario wrote:I followed this tutorial and i sort of understand what i have to do in order to get the patch working https://invidious.kavin.rocks/watch?v=rhOXxa5FhZo but my question is. How do i patch chrono trigger with both the plus patch and the msu1 patch? i tried with both the version from romhacking.net and qwerty's version of the msu1 patch without patching the Plus patch after that and the rom file is inside the pcm music folder and still no luck in making it work, the new music doesnt play at all and when i do patch the Plus patch it just makes the rom go black when i open it
can someone help me?

About Qwertymodo's patch.
I grabbed the FMV msu file but it doesn't play the intro video at all.
When I load the game in BSNES v115, the "tick-tock" clock animation sequence shows and just keeps looping over and over skipping intro completely.
Audio is fine though.
what does that mean? do i just patch CT+ and it already has the MSU1 patch in it?

i have already patched chrono trigger plus to the headless USA Rom and renamed it to chrono_msu, put it in the folder with all the PCM files i downloaded from here yet the new music still doesnt play

Exactly...
The patch (CT + 2.4) already has (MSU1) integrated / merged ...
Just like it says in the readme !!!

Did you also download the track 100 pcm file?
Without this PCM it will not work !!!

i got the pcm files from number 1 to 109 including the 100 pcm file. I have tried patching the Chrono Trigger headless ROM with the Plus Patch with both Luna IPS and FLIPS and i have tried playing the rom in both bsnes on retroarch and regular bsnes, the music still doesn't play

all the files are named correctly but i don't have an .msu file in the folder, how do i get that file? or how do i create itConn wrote:do you have the *.msu file in your folder and all files named correctly?

You can take it from another game and rename it,
if you are going to use (anime intro) then you should use the ones available here:

To create your own: open a notepad,
Archive,
save as (white file) (.msu)
type: all files
ready, file created.

What's the difference between one set and the other in terms of the music? i know that Blake Robinson is basically all orchestrated music for the game but how about the Dracula9 set

i did that and change the extension from .txt to .msu after typing "all files" inside the .txt file but the music still won't play. What do i have to do to create the .msu file properly? i got Blake Robinson's PCM files and have patched CT with the Plus patch

I think you misunderstood.
You need to change file extension from txt to msu.
Windows (stupidly) hides file extensions as default, you need to enable it in Control Panel\File Explorer Options.
Untick "Hide extensions for known file types", then rename (game).txt to (game).msu

that's actually what i did lol. I made the .txt file and typed "all files" (without the quotation marks) inside of it, saved it and then changed the extension from .txt to .msu and left the name of the file blank. The PCM'S, .msu file and the CT+ patched ROM are all inside the same folder but the music still won't play either on normal bsnes or on the bsnes core in retroarch.Retroplay wrote:I think you misunderstood.

Huge edit: i was wrong when leaving the .msu file blank instead of renaming it to the name of the rom which is chrono_msu. That was my mistake

What do i have to do now if i want to add the FMV's to the game? besides expanding the game with Lunar Expand

Grab the FMV (msu file) file in the first post and copy to game folder.
No need to use Lunar Expand.

Well, i just tried downloading the file and it's still down

What would you say it's the biggest difference Between Blake Robinson msu and pcm's and Dracula9Retroplay wrote:Grab the FMV (msu file) file in the first post and copy to game folder.

There was much misleading said. You need to create a new text file, right click somewhere -> new text file.that's actually what i did lol. Rename that file to the name of your rom, e.g. new textfile.txt -> ct_msu1.msu (or whichever name convention is used. File size is 0 bytes, just empty.
The presence of this file implies MSU mode, the name must match the name of your MSU patched rom. It can contain a fmv, then the file size is of course much larger

i want to add the FMV's but the FMV .msu file is down again. Can one have the music and the FMV's at the same time?
