We originally released all three Mega Man X MSU-1 titles without the ability to play Doctor Light's theme. We have fixed that issue since original release of the patches. Mega Man X :: Comments
@alex_tenjo At the moment, I have no plans to do so. My goal was to make RockmanX v1.0 compatible with Her-Saki and MSU. It took me some time and accomplished my goal. For now, I will take a much needed break.
@pepillopev
First thanks again for fixing your patch for that particular game for both versions. I will email Her-Saki to ask if a 1.1 patch can be made. To let you know, I’m interested in version 1.1 because of inherent 1.0 problems are annoying for one of my projects (to be just a little more precise, what is annoying me is the official hardware mod made on every 1.0 to fix various copy protection issues).
I have tried by myself to make a Her-Saki's Japanese translation patch 1.1 compatible but because of my zero knowledge in programming, I only partially succeeded. I have attempted to inject every hex values of the initial patch in a clean 1.1 ROM (of course, 1.0 and 1.1 are different and some parts of the code has been shift/replace, that’s why I have track values and only replace once similar strings are located). I managed to get all the in-game text translated and correctly displayed (except regarding the last X words). However the opening is broken (the screen get stuck after displaying a few broken characters and you need to press a button to go to the title screen), and the cast roll is also broken, no text is displayed and it never ends (so I have no clue if the very ending sequence and the Sigma last words should work correctly). That’s why I think the patch need to be more deeply edited, shifting value should not be enough (but once again I’m only speculated since I have no programming skills).
If Her-Saki can make a 1.1 version of the patch, can I ask your assistance if there is incompatibility between the new translation patch and your MSU-1 patch?
By now, happy well deserved resting time.

@alex_tenjo The MSU code is not mine (it is DarkShocks code). I just move it around for the Her-Saki patch to work. Much to what Conn did for the hard type patch.
I encountered the same issue with the broken intro on RockmanX 1.1 too (got that fixed ). That is as far as I got until I feel like resuming the port.
Let’s see if Her-Saki wants to port to 1.1. If so, no need for me to try to port at all.

Message sent to Her-Saki more than two weeks ago and no reply so far.
I guess I will have to forget a 1.1 version with Her-Saki's translation.

@alex_tenjo That is unfortunate to hear about the no reply. Well, if there is some time, I will resume the port but at my own leisure. Not having the source really makes things slow to port. It can be done, just time consuming.
@pepillopev
Even if it’s two weeks ago, I may receive a reply later on. If I get something, be sure that I will contact you immediately.
However, if I don’t get anything and if one day you have time and motivation to port the translation to version 1.1, it would be wonderful. Version 1.1 in addition to correct several bugs, also rewrite the anti-piracy code to prevent it to trigger in normal usage (version 1.0 has been officially mod, one trace is cut and a resistor is solder between two pins on every cartridge to ensure that the code will never be randomly executed).

The question is valid, not so much because of the crc32 (we usually do not give this, but only the version US no header or whatever), but here I am lost too.
There's a patch called:
megamanx-us-v1.1-msu-patch.ips
which I think needs to be applied to normal MMX without header, but the file size is 119 kb which is way too large.
rockmanx probably need to be applied on the japanese version with Her-Saki translation patch preapplied. However, there are versions for 1.0 and 1.1, but the version at romhacking is 1.5:
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/3452/
Edit: Ah, no. It is for Rockman X (Japanse version both 1.0 and 1.1 revision). Her-Saki translation is optional but compatible
I'll point Pev here to check and include a readme

Added readme file with CRC and MD5 information for MegaMan-X only. Removed Rockman-X v1.0 and v1.1 patches as they are no longer considered compatible since Her-Saki updated the translation patches for 1.0 and 1.1 ROMs. This is to avoid any unnecessary "not working" questions. The old patch was based on the original HerSaki translation patch (not the new one).
I will have to re-test these new translation patches (including the special anti-copy Protection patches) with the MSU-1 patch. If all goes well, I will repost the patches.

Thanks Pev
As suggested in the e-mail I'd suggest to simply have a merged Her-Saki 1.5 Translation with the msu patch. If a 1.6 translation ever comes out, this isn't your problem then anymore
Also i really think there's something wrong with the US1.1 mmx patch with 119kb. DS patch which still floats around at romhacking is only 400bytes...

@Conn Nonetheless, I have to make sure Her-Saki's used ROM space from the new version was not moved to a place the MSU-1 code was re-assigned to.
As for DS's code; yup, I noticed the large file size and updated the BPS patch file as well. Tested it too, it works with the intended US MMX 1.1 "headerless" ROM. This was probably the problem originally. Glad it was caught. An oversight on my part, but it is fixed now. Thanks for informing me.

I just checked the bps is still a bit large with 16kb, but does not work with the roms I have, 2 sources:
Mega Man X (U) (V1.1).sfc
Mega Man X (USA) (Rev 1).sfc
both no header, gives error message, not intented for this rom...
ROM CRC32 DED53C64
ROM SHA-1 C65216760BA99178100A10D98457CF11496C2097
I'll try to find the rom given your readme
Edit:
My fault, the old patch was for 1.1 the new is for 1.0, with v1.0 the bps applies
But there are a lot of changes inside the rom, so I am not sure if 16kb is really the correct patch size here as well.

I have that ROM with that CRC you provided as well. I can create the patch file from that one too.
If you have the time and interest I'd suggest following patches included:
usMMX1.0
usMMX1.1
Japanese I also found a 1.0 and a 1.1 revision, if you take the effort for both, I'd merge both patches with the 1.5 translation and msu patch, so 4 patches if all works well

@Conn Ok, I see what I done wrong (probably confused MMX 1.0 with 1.1). I updated the patch for MegamanX 1.1 matching the CRC you provided. What a nightmare.
Shoot me an email with the ROMs you have. I will work on this Her-Saki business and get it out of the way.

noticed that too,a nd just was about to write it.
Sent you both roms
Her-Saki has also 1.0 and 1.1 versions in his patch (hopefully they refer to those 1.0 and 1.1 versiosn to download (with a special, whatever this could be)

@Conn The special patches are intended to disable the copy protection Capcom employed in the version 1.0 ROM when the code is tampered in any way. I thought this only applied to 1.0 but from my understanding it seems version 1.1 is affected too if his translation patch is applied?
He did mention in the readme posted on romhacking.net to apply the specials if the game behaves in its copy protection state.

It's really getting confusing... better apply the special then in any case?
Oh and is possible to output for bps patches specific rom names?
With the new mmx11-msu.bps, the output is mmx11-msu.sfc which needs to be named mmx-msu1.sfc (or simply note in readme to rename it)
It's really Wish you the best of

@Conn I will fix the BPS patch to output the correct file name once this mess is sorted it out. Luck, indeed, I will need.
Best 4 separate folder: US1.0, US1.1, Jap1.0 and Jap1.1
- in each an original and a msu-verison name copy
- then applying special Rockman_X_10.ips to Jap1.0 and Rockman_X_11.ips to Jap1.1
- then applying special 1.0 to Jap1.0 and special 1.1 to Jap1.1
(both patches, special and translation seem to be needed)
- then adjust the msu code to each rom
- bps output in each folder...
you definitely need a system

@Conn Ok, thanks for making the patches compatible across all standard US/Jap ROM revisions. I kept the standard mmx_msu1-x.pcm naming scheme per your suggestion in the patch ReadMe file. Also, included information about the Bulk Rename Utility app in the PCM Pack ReadMe file. Just in case others prefer other naming conventions for this game.
